A Year End Note
December 2021
A View During the 2021 Do Good Run/Walk, December 4
to Benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
As the Administrator and Members of the Advisory Board of The Stone and Holt Weeks Foundation -- and as friends and admirers of Stone and
of Holt -- we wanted to say thank you for your ongoing support over these last 12 years and to ask that you remember The Foundation in your year-end charitable giving.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the Foundation has continued to support organizations that have carried on their good work, often having to transform to virtual formats. Even though we have not always been able to gather in person, you have donated from near and far, sent kind and encouraging notes, participated remotely in Foundation events and otherwise embodied Do Good, Have Fun in your own way and in your own time in honor of Holt and of Stone.
At a time when goodness can seem scarce, The Stone and Holt Weeks Foundation remains unwavering in its pursuit of the charitable work Stone and Holt believed in and worked for. Please see the work of The Foundation to understand more fully the scope of its mission.
Through these last 12 years, The Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $700,000 to multiple organizations working to benefit those most in need. This is a testament to Holt and to Stone, who were -- and continue to be -- an inspiration for others to further the work they engaged in during their all too brief lives.
Your generous help will ensure that The Foundation can continue to fund these organizations for many years to come. And it will enable The Foundation to respond to more people in need -- as we did this year, sending relief to victims of Haiti's earthquake and of recent tornadoes in Kentucky and other states; aiding communities in great need during the Covid crisis in Nepal, the Navajo Nation, and blood cancer patients; helping to address climate concerns and environmental sustainability for people around the country, including the Lakota of Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota in one of the poorest counties in the U.S., and supporting safety on America's roads and highways.
The Foundation is a component fund of the Greater Washington Community Foundation. All contributions are tax deductible. When you make a donation to The Stone and Holt Weeks Foundation, 98.9 percent goes straight to the good causes we support. The other 1.1 percent goes to the Community Foundation, which handles accounting and paperwork.
Thank you again and wishing you all good health as we embark on a new year.
Warmly,
Susan Park, Administrator
